Pearl is a little boy who wants to be a girl, but his family wants him to behave like a normal little boy. In this unusual holiday tale, Pearl’s brothers sic the family dog on him, his sisters make him do chores in exchange for playing beauty parlor and his parents forbid him from speaking freely with “Santy Claus” because they dread his Christmas wish list.
Though holiday themed, “Pearl’s Christmas Present” is really a story about siblings who don’t get along, parents who don’t cope well with what they don’t understand and a little boy with a firm sense of self.
